Turning Point takes staff development seriously. After all, the complexity of the issues we deal with and the potential impact of our interventions on the lives of service users demands people who are the very best at what they do.
To deliver this we have two dedicated training teams that help staff achieve our strategic objectives by helping people:
- Optimise their individual skills, knowledge and talents in the delivery of services to clients and colleagues.
- Make a direct contribution to Turning Point’s success though their performance.
- Develop to their full potential in their roles and to achieve personal success.
We believe strongly that people should have equal access to learning and development opportunities that will help them increase their ability to perform their roles.
On joining Turning Point all staff attend an Induction Workshop and work with their line manager to develop an induction programme tailored to their needs. Your manager will have a critical role to play in your development, to ensure that you are fully trained to provide the best service to our clients and that you do this within the legal and regulatory guidelines that apply to social care work. Examples of this include:
- Regular supervision and the ongoing identification of your training needs.
- On-the-job training and assistance from more experienced colleagues.
- Encouragement to complete relevant National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs) and Vocationally Related Qualifications (VRQs).
- Attendance on a range of in-house training courses.
To help all staff achieve their potential Turning Point operates its own, in-house, NVQ Centre, enabling us to offer you access to facilitators with a knowledge of NVQs and an awareness of your role.
Turning Point also operates a Mandatory Training Programme for all managers and staff, to ensure that everyone possesses the knowledge, skills and attitudes critical to our success. This will help ensure a fair and consistent approach to all staff and clients and will also increase everyone’s contribution to what it is we do. On joining Turning Point each individual and their line manager will agree the appropriate training and the timescales for its completion.
